At Hartsgoed, we dream of creating more than just beautiful things — we want to create a peaceful place where people feel at home. A space to gather, to enjoy each other’s company over a cup of coffee and a homemade meal, and to be surrounded by beauty — in our Hartsgoed products, and in the work of other local makers we’re proud to support.
We firmly believe in quality over quantity, in slow, meaningful work, and in supporting local — whether that means sewing on the farm, printing fabric in South Africa, or partnering with fellow creatives who share our values.
Our heart is to remind others of Abba Father’s love, and how important it is to search for beauty in everyday life. To live with gratitude. To bloom where you are planted. To find purpose in your gifts — and to bring glory to Jesus in all that you do.
It is also a personal calling: to find balance as a mother — to work with purpose, while being present in the home and faithful in my role as a mother and wife.
We hope to build something lasting: a place our children can grow into, and build on. A place where they learn the value of working together as a family, and the joy of empowering others to support theirs.

You can visit us at our store in Beaufort West, where we also run the Hartsgoed online shop - every order is lovingly packed and shipped from there. On the same premises, you’ll find Hartshuijs Guest House - a calm, welcoming stay filled with thoughtful touches of Hartsgoed textiles and style.
Many of our pieces feature verses written by Alet and printed on fabric — gentle, faith-filled reminders to trust Abba Father, live with gratitude, and find joy in the everyday.
Being able to do what you love, and use your God-given talents each day, is a deep blessing. Running a business like this in the Karoo comes with many challenges — but also so much grace, beauty, and thankfulness.
